On April 5th, 2018, the Legrand Group and the Russian 3data data center network presented the results of their joint project: a commercial single-vendor data center (Data Processing Center) fully equipped with Legrand equipment. Data center SK19 is Russia’s highest classification Digital Yard format project. The project was developed specifically for modern IT companies in accordance with the ‘Digital Economy of the Russian Federation’ federal program.
SK19 is located in the center of old Moscow - on the Sadovoye Koltso, between the Patriarshiye Prudy and Moscow Zoo. This location in Moscow’s historical center with its high building density, presented Legrand engineers a difficult task – i.e. to place complex equipment in an extremely limited space, taking into account the specific safety and heat generation requirements. Nevertheless, the integration of Legrand’s equipment was successfully implemented and in extremely short time.
To optimize the installation and subsequent maintenance of the data center, it was decided to use equipment from one manufacturer – the Legrand Company. This allowed not only an accelerated process of equipment transportation and cost reduction but also resulted in improved efficiency of internal hardware communication.
The SK19 data center is on a level equivalent to the 3rd level of reliability. It has sufficient power and distribution capabilities so that when one path (channel) is busy, it is possible to simultaneously service or test another path. Two independent power lines, reserved for the N + 1 scheme, are fed to each rack for 5.5 kW or more.
The continuity of the data center processes is provided by the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, powered by 2 independent power supplies, operating in conjunction with an automatic reserve input to switch between both the inputs and the diesel generator set (DGS). The Legrand UPS Arhimod series has an efficiency factor of 96% and has multiple redundancy of internal components. The highly effective control system increases the reliability of the data center’s power supply. Cabinet precision air conditioners, alongside the application of ‘cold and hot’ corridors guarantee effective cooling of the system. The integrated monitoring system allows for continuous monitoring of all basic parameters and will automatically notify in cases of malfunction.
A great deal of attention was paid to controlling access to the racks of the new data center. In addition to the CCTV system, the biometric access system is divided into three levels. Access can be obtained by 3data employees, who service the building and specialists of customer companies.
"Legrand is immensely proud of the results of our joint project with 3data. In the shortest time, we developed and implemented a complex integrated solution that takes into account both the architectural features of the city center and the high level of customer requirements for energy efficiency, safety and fault tolerance of the facility. Thanks to the joint efforts of dozens of companies located in the very center of the city, an efficient and reliable modern data center is now available to everyone", said Alexander Nikitin, Director of the department for work with corporate clients Legrand Russia and the CIS.
"Together with our partner, Legrand, we have managed to create an exclusive offer due to the specific location of this data center. We have integrated the concept of a single-data center for faster and better customer service. Legrand is one of the few companies offering the widest range of solutions for equipping modern data centers," said Ilya Khala, CEO of 3data.
SK19 started working in test mode in October 2017 and is now ready to provide all services to customers. The location of the data center in close proximity to potential customers will allow numerous organizations, institutions and business centers to use the services of the data center on-line. SK19 can provide servers for many large companies located in the historic center of Moscow.
Telecommunications in the data center are provided solely by the Mastertel communications operator.
